Doesn't God care?

So much is blamed on God when bad things happen to people.

Sickness, premature death, troubled home life, rebellious children, job loss, financial lack and poverty, marriage breakdown, etc etc... When these things happen in our lives we tend to quickly look to God and blame Him or get confused about life.
If we search the scriptures we will see that it is not God but the enemy, the devil that “comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” Jesus, on the other hand, clearly said that He had come to give ABUNDANT LIFE.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. - John 10:10
So, doesn’t it make sense that we should judge the things that are happening to us and decide whether it is an abundant-life-thing or a steal-kill-destroy-thing to know from which source they’re coming from?
The apostles Paul and Peter in the Scriptures both warn us to be vigilant:
1 Peter 5:8 NIV Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
2 Corinthians 2:11 NIV … in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not (we shouldn’t be!!) unaware of his schemes.
According to Jesus the devil can only have power over us if we give him opportunity, legal right or allow sin in our lives. The amplified Bible puts it like this:
John 14:30 AMPC “I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [i.e. He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]”
That tells me that:
If we have something in common with the enemy (wrong mindset, wrong thought patterns, sinful or worldly lifestyle, generational curses or judgements, etc)
or
If we have things in our hearts/lives that belong to him (hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness, sinfulness, disobedience, rebellion, etc) …
then the enemy DOES have power over us!!
Paul calls these things, “footholds” or “opportunities” for the devil to “steal-kill-destroy” (Eph 4:27)
So we shouldn’t go blaming God if it’s us who have all the back doors of our lives wide open for the enemy to come and wreak havoc in our lives and the lives of our kids and loved ones.
It’s time to shut those doors and take away the opportunities from the devil in our lives and households.
Ephesians 6:10-11 NIV “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Next time we’ll talk about how to get rid of these open doors, how to get wisdom what to do, how to understand the will and the ways of God for your life and your kids’ lives.
